FACT Zimbabwe joins the rest of the world in commemorating 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence which runs annually from the 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10th December, Human Rights Day. The 2020 global theme is: “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!”
The onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic worldwide saw the disruption of a number of socio-economic and cultural activities with people being confined to their homes as a result of lockdown measures introduced to curb the further spread of the novel virus. Zimbabwe was not spared by the lockdowns which were imposed in March 2020 and reports showed an alarming increase in the already existing pandemic of violence against women.
It is in this regard, we stand with the world to eliminate all forms of violence against women and children.
