Fact's definition and approach to developement

FACT's development approach is to integrate HIV&AIDS and livelihoods in its development work. FACT views development as change, growth, progress, reformation, or transformation of target communities. Regarding FACT, development entails:

Facilitating a process of positive change (i.e. improvement) in community people's lives through improved access to services and consequent improvement of their wellbeing

Being a catalyst of change to enable community people and community organisations to effectively engage in activities that contribute to improved well-being of the people. These activities include: OVC interventions, Community Health Care, HIV Prevention, poverty reduction and advocacy.
FACT Operating Coverage Areas
FACT's work contributes to the following Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

Goal 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger - livelihood interventions
Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education - educational assistance to OVC
Goal 3: Promote gender equality and empower women - gender empowerment initiatives
Goal 4: Reduce child mortality rates - improving access to primary health care through complementing MoH&CW
Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, & other diseases - HIV prevention and mitigation as well as facilitating ART access among other things.

Fact's Work in Health

FACT's work in health contributes to the The National Health Strategy for Zimbabwe (2009 - 2013) particularly on Determinants of Health (Pillar 1). Pillar 1 seeks to address the factors outside the health sector which have an impact on health. These factors include Socio economic Dynamics, Health & The environment, and Health Promotion.

Fact's HIV and AIDS Interventions

FACT's HIV and AIDS work is guided and aligned to Zimbabwe National HIV and AIDS Strategic Plan 2011-2015 [ZNASP II], which is a successor policy to Zimbabwe National HIV and AIDS Strategic Plan (2006-2010).

Fact's work in Sexual Reproductive Health

FACT's work in Sexual Reproductive Health among youth is guided and aligned to the National Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy 2010-2015. The document spells out that it is the human right of adolescents to have access to age-appropriate sexual and reproductive health information and services.
